Decentering
Terms of Service
The agreement for using Decentering, including the practice, the chat, and paid membership.
Last updated November 7, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and H2H Media Group Inc. ("we", "us", or the "Operator") for Decentering. By ticking the box and choosing Agree and continue, or by using Decentering after that, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy at /privacy.
If you do not agree, do not use Decentering. You can sign out without agreeing.
2. Definitions
In these terms:
- "Decentering" or the "Service" means the Decentering app, including the resonance breath, the guided awareness reps, the Decentering process chat, and the pages at decentering.app.
- "Practice" means a breath session, an awareness rep, or a Decentering process chat.
- "You" means the person who creates an account or uses the Service.
- "Operator" means H2H Media Group Inc., 460 Doyle Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 0C2, Canada.
- "Membership" means a paid Recognition or Integration subscription. Foundation is not a paid membership.
- "Consent record" means the version and time stored when you tick the box, currently version 2026-11-07b.
3. Nature of the service
Decentering is a daily educational practice: a short resonance breath, a guided awareness rep, and a guided chat we call the Decentering process. It is for your wellbeing and for learning a practice. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care, or a diagnosis, and it does not replace any of those.
Decentering is not supervised by a physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, or other licensed clinician. Using it does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, or other clinical relationship with the Operator, with any contributor, or with the chat.
The Decentering process chat is run by an AI model (claude-sonnet-5, from Anthropic), not by a person. It can be wrong, misunderstand you, or miss what matters. Nobody is reading the chat live. The chat is not monitored by a person, and it cannot step in or reach you in an emergency. There is no promise of human follow-up.
This is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, thinking about hurting yourself or someone else, or in immediate danger, do not use the app for help. Call your local emergency number. In the United States, examples are: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), or call 911. If you are working with a doctor or therapist, keep doing that.
If something you write looks like a crisis, abuse, a child in danger, or another serious concern the app is set to catch, the chat stops the practice and shows support resources. It may also send a private alert to the Operator's team on Slack. That alert includes your account ID, the category, how serious it looks, and the words that triggered it. It does not include the message you wrote. An alert is not a promise that a person will contact you.
Your participation is voluntary. You may stop a practice, skip a prompt, or leave at any time.
4. Suitability and contraindications
Breathwork and inner work can bring up strong feelings, including lightheadedness. The practices may not be appropriate for everyone. Talk with a qualified health professional before you start if you have, or suspect you have, any of the following:
- A psychiatric condition, including PTSD, a psychotic disorder, a dissociative disorder, or severe depression or anxiety.
- A serious cardiovascular, respiratory, or neurological condition.
- Recent surgery, a recent injury, or any condition that deep breathing or a long still posture could affect.
- Pregnancy.
- Active substance dependency.
5. Your responsibility for the practice
You are responsible for deciding whether a practice is appropriate for you, and for how you use it. Go at your own pace. Stop if anything feels like too much. Never do the breath while driving, swimming, bathing, or anywhere it would not be safe to feel lightheaded.
If you feel unwell during a practice, stop and seek in-person help. Decentering does not promise a particular result, insight, or change in how you feel.
6. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use Decentering. By agreeing, you confirm that you are 18 or older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete that account.
You may keep one account, for yourself. You may not share the sign-in link or the account with another person.
7. Accounts and sign-in
Sign-in is an email magic link. Decentering does not use passwords. Keep access to that email. You are responsible for activity under your account.
The first time you sign in, and again whenever the consent version changes, we ask you to read the disclaimer and these terms. The current consent version is 2026-11-07b. Agreeing stores that version and the time you agreed. Until you agree, the rest of the signed-in app stays closed. The public breath page does not ask.
8. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
Foundation is free. Recognition and Integration require both the earned practice record and an active paid membership.
Paid memberships are $29 USD per month or $249 USD per year, charged by Stripe in US dollars. A membership renews automatically at the end of each paid period until you cancel. There is no trial.
You can cancel at any time from the Stripe billing portal linked in the app. Cancellation stops the next renewal. You keep paid access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not give refunds for a period that has started, including if you cancel partway through, stop using the app, or close your account.
If a renewal payment fails, paid access can stop until Stripe records a successful payment and the membership is active again. Foundation stays available.
We may change the price. We will email you before a new price applies to a renewal. A new price does not change a period you have already paid. Taxes may be added where the law requires them. Stripe handles the card payment. We do not store your card number.
9. Acceptable use
Use Decentering for your own practice. You agree not to:
- Use the Service if you are under 18.
- Use the chat as a crisis line, or expect a person to intervene.
- Probe, scrape, overload, or attempt to break the Service, or to get another person's data.
- Copy, resell, or publicly share the recordings, prompts, or other paid material, except for a short quotation with credit.
- Use the Service to harm someone, to break the law, or to submit someone else's private information.
- Try to make the chat ignore its limits or pretend to be a clinician.
10. Intellectual property and license
The Service, including the software, the breath soundtrack, the awareness recordings, the text, the prompts, and the Decentering name, belongs to H2H Media Group Inc. or its licensors. These terms do not transfer that ownership to you.
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service while your account is open and, for a paid tier, while your membership is active. You may not reverse engineer the Service except where a law forbids that limit.
11. User content
You keep ownership of the words you write in the chat. You give us a license to host those words, to send them to the AI provider so it can reply, to store your practice history, and to send the limited safety alert described above. That license lasts only as long as we need it to run the Service and to meet the retention rules in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for what you submit. Do not send information you do not have the right to share. We may remove content or close an account that breaks these terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using Decentering at any time. You may ask us to delete your account by emailing support@decentering.app. Cancelling a membership is separate from deleting an account, and the no-refund rule still applies.
We may suspend or close an account if you break these terms, if the account belongs to a minor, if a payment remains failed, or if we stop offering Decentering. If we stop the Service, we will email the address on the account when we reasonably can.
13. Warranty disclaimer
Decentering is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or clinically useful.
The AI chat can be wrong. Recordings and prompts are educational. We do not warrant that a practice will help you, or that it will be safe for your health. Some provinces do not allow certain disclaimers, and those disclaimers apply only as far as the law allows.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada allow, the Operator and its directors, officers, employees, and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or personal injury arising from a practice, even if we were advised of the possibility.
To the extent the law allows a cap, our total liability for a claim relating to the Service is the amount you paid us for Decentering in the 12 months before the claim, or 100 USD if you paid nothing in that time.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the laws of British Columbia or the federal laws of Canada, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that limit is not allowed, or a right you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
15. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you will indemnify the Operator and its directors, officers, employees, and contractors against claims, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising from your misuse of the Service, the content you submit, or your breach of these terms. This does not require you to indemnify us for our own negligence or wilful misconduct where the law does not allow that.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page will change. If a change is material, we change the consent version in the app and ask you to agree again before you continue. The version in effect on November 7, 2026 is 2026-11-07b. Continued use after you agree means you accept the updated terms.
17. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would apply another jurisdiction's law.
The courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms or the Service, except that we may seek injunctive relief in another court for misuse of our intellectual property. You and we will try to resolve a dispute informally first by emailing support@decentering.app.
18. Electronic consent
Your tick of the box and your choice of Agree and continue are your electronic consent to this disclaimer, these Terms of Service, and the Privacy Policy, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older. That consent is saved with the version (2026-11-07b) and the time you agreed. It is the record of your agreement. You may ask us for a copy by emailing support@decentering.app.
